A quick and flavour-packed dish of savoury-sweet teriyaki beef mince served over fluffy rice. Simple, satisfying, and perfect for busy weeknights.



 

Ingredients

For the Teriyaki Beef

  • 500g beef mince
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp mirin or sweet cooking wine
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar (optional)
  • 1 tsp cornflour mixed with 2 tbsp water

For the Rice

  • 200g jasmine or long-grain rice
  • 400ml water
  • Salt, to taste

To Finish

  • Spring onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds

Cook the Rice

    Rinse the rice under cold water.

  2. Step 3

    Place in a saucepan with the water and salt.

  3. Step 4

    Bring to the boil, cover, and simmer for 12โ€“15 minutes until tender.

Brown the Beef

    Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.

    Add the beef mince and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.

Build the Sauce

    Add the soy sauce, mirin, sugar or honey, and rice vinegar if using.

Thicken
